GODZ USELESS BAND FACTS - RATT

Ratt

The band Ratt was formed in San Diego, CA as Mickey Ratt with vocalist Stephen Pearcy, guitarist Chris Hager, bassist Matt Thor, and drummer John Turner.

Chris Hager and Matt Thor left the band and went on to play together in Rough Cutt.

Mickey Ratt shortened their name to Ratt in 1981.

Ratt guitarist, Warren DeMartini, was 18 years old when he joined Ratt and was attending college at the time in San Diego.

Legendary comedian, Milton Berle, appeared in the video for “Round and Round”.  Ratt was managed by Milton’s nephew Marshall Berle.

Actress Tawny Kitaen (Bachelor Party, Whitesnake videos) was featured on the cover of the quadruple platinum selling album “Out of the Cellar”.  Kitaen had been dating guitarist Robbin Crosby.

Ratt played the 1985 Monsters of Rock festival in Donington, England with ZZ Top, Bon Jovi and an upcpming ,Metallica.

Ratt had 2 songs featured in different movies, “Body Talk” appeared in the Eddie Murphy movie “The Golden Child” and “Nobody Rides for Free” appeared in the Keanu Reeves/Patrick Swayze movie “Point Break”.

Guitarist Robbin Crosby passed away on June 6, 2002.

Ratt reformed with vocalist Stephen Pearcy in 2007, the current lineup (2008) consists of Pearcy, Demartini, Blotzer with bassist, Robbie Crane and guitarist, Carlos Cavazo (Quiet Riot).

Ratt

Disturbed evolved from the band Brawl which included vocalist Eric Awalt, guitarist Dan Donegan, bassist Steve Kmak, and drummer Mike Wengren.

Current vocalist, David Draiman joined the band in 1996 and Brawl changed their name to Disturbed .

Disturbed released it's debut album "The Sickness" in 2000.

The band hails from Chicago, IL.

Disturbed's mascot is simply known as "The Guy".

Disturbed recorded the song "Glass Shatters" that is used by WWE Wrestler, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin's, as his intro music to the wrestling ring.

Current bassist John Moyer replaced original bassist, Steve Kmak, in 2004.



GODZ USELESS BAND FACTS - ALICE IN CHAINS

Ratt

Alice In Chains was originally named Diamond Lie .

Vocalist, Layne Staley, was the last member to join AIC with guitarist Jerry Cantrell, bassist Mike Starr, and drummer, Sean Kinney..

Staley had been a member of a band called Alice N' Chainz, in which the band dressed in drag and played covers of speed/power metal bands.

Alice in Chains toured with the likes of Van Halen, Extreme, in the early years and landed the opening slot of the "Clash of The Titans" tour with Megadeth, Anthrax, and Slayer in 1991.

Received a Grammy nomination in 1991 for the song "Man in the Box"

AIC appear in the Cameron Crowe movie "Singles" preforming in a scene as a bar band, and contributed the song "Would" to the movies soundtrack.

Bassist, Mike Starr left the band in 1993 and was replaced with Ozzy Osbourne bassist, Mike Inez..

AIC released the EP "Jar of Flies' which debuted #1 on the Billboard Charts. The band was scheduled to tour with Metallica but had to pull out of the tour because of vocalist, Layne Staley's addictions.

Vocalist, Layne Stayley, passed away in April of 2002 of a drug overdose.

After a few years of AIC being on a hiatus because of Staley's death, the remaining memeber (Cantrell, Inez, and Kinney) reunited for a benefit concert for the tsunami victims in Asia with various vocalists preforming with the band.

Alice in Chains have continued to tour with new vocalist, William DuVall, and plan to release a new album in 2009.

Rainbow

Formed in 1975 by former Deep Purple guitarist, Ritchie Blackmore.

Ritchie Blackmore was born on April 14, 1945..

The original incarnation of Rainbow consisted of Blackmore and the band Elf which included vocalist Ronnie James Dio.

Rainbow’s debut album “Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow” included the minor hit “Man on the Silver Mountain”

Ronnie James Dio left the band after 3 studio albums and later replaced Ozzy Osbourne as the vocalist in Black Sabbath.

Graham Bonnet replaced Dio and lasted only one album, 1979’s “ Down to Earth”.

American born singer, Joey Lynn Turner became the bands 3rd lead vocalist and American born drummer, Bobby Rondinelli replaced legendary drummer, Cozy Powell in the band in 1980..

The bands video for the song “Street of Dreams” was banned by MTV for alleged controversive hypnotic effects.

Rainbow has included over 20 different members with the only mainstay being Blackmore.

GODZ USELESS BAND FACTS - SAMSON

Samson

Formed in 1977, Samson was part of the late 70’s “New Wave of British Heavy Metal” explosion.

Samson’s members included at one time future Iron Maiden lead singer Bruce Dickinson, who used the stage moniker, Bruce, Bruce while a member of Samson..

Drummer Barry “Thundersticks” Graham performed wearing a leather mask and was kept in a cage.

Guitarist, Paul Samson and bassist, Chris Aylmer rounded out the most popular version on the band.

Dickinson appeared on the Samson 1980 studio album “Head On” and the 1981 studio album “Shock Tactics”.

Samson opened shows for Iron Maiden in the early 80’s and vocalist Bruce Dickinson caught the ear of Iron Maiden bassist, Steve Harris who hired Dickinson to replace Maiden vocalist, Paul Di’Anno.

Nicky Moore replaced Dickinson is Samson as lead vocalist in 1982..

Guitarist and Samson founder, Paul Samson passed away on August 9, 2002.
